Asif Nazrul asks DCs to keep law and order under control

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Prof Dr Asif Nazrul today asked the deputy commissioners (DCs) to work with utmost sincerity in keeping law and order situation under control.

“DCs lead the local administration and know well about problems at grassroots. The previous fascist government used such a huge resource of the state to suppress and torture the people and justify their misdeeds,” he said.

Asif Nazrul, also adviser for expatriates welfare and overseas employment, said these while talking to reporters after attending the fifth working session of the three-day DC Conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here.

He said the DCs were used as opponents of the people during AL regime which was complete violation of the law and the constitution.

Most talented officials are given the charge of DCs as they come to administration through competitive examinations, he said.

“We hope whichever party comes to power in future will refrain from using the DCs to oppress the people,” he said.

Regarding the expatriates’ welfare, he said DCs have been asked to take initiative in providing technical training to students after SSC examinations as they get few months until publishing their results.

The DCs are asked to create a database for all those who want to go to the Technical Training Center (TTC), he said.

“Steps have been taken to create a database for those who want to go abroad. This work will start soon. Directives were given to strengthen the government recruiting agency,” Asif Nazrul said.

Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman was present at the briefing. (BSS)
