Bronze winning kabaddi team gets reception

The Ministry of Youth and Sports accorded a warm reception to Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team, which won bronze medal in the recently concluded 6th edition of Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship held in Iran.

The reception ceremony was held at the conference room of National Sports Council today.

Youth and Sports secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi addressed the function as chief guest while NSC secretary Aminul Islam was present as the special guest.

Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) vice presidens Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Md. Motaher Hossain, Hafizur Rahman Khan and Abdullah Al Noman and general secretary SM Newaz Shohag were present in the reception ceremony.

Speaking as the chief guest, Youth and Sports secretary Rezaul Maksud Jahedi said, “We are proud of our women’s kabaddi team. Sports Advisor is also very happy with this achievement of the women’s team. On behalf of the advisor, we welcome you.”

“Kabaddi has a lot of potential and we need to plan how we can defeat big teams. The ministry is with you …the budget for Kabaddi will be increased in the future,” he added.

“The Sports Advisor has given a grant of 25 lakhs to the BKF for improved training. As a result, we believe that our women’s kabaddi team will be able to achieve many more achievements through good training,” he said.

BKF general secretary SM Newaz Sohag said, “I would like to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports for this success of our women’s team in the international arena.”

“The Ministry of Sports has always been by the side of the Kabaddi Federation. I would like to thank the Sports Advisor. There are many international events in the future. We will make every effort to do well in those events,” he added.

Mentionable that Bangladesh won the bronze medal in the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship beating Thailand in the group phase match. (BSS)
