Finland President meets Chief Adviser, calls for a rules-based world

Finland President Alexander Stubb on Tuesday held
a meeting with Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on the
sidelines of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss city of Davos.

During the meeting, they discussed key global issues, including the
inauguration of Donald Trump as the new US president, the Russia-Ukraine war,
the increasing role of the Global South in geopolitical issues and the
Rohingya crisis.

“We need a rules-based world,” the Finnish president said.

Prof Yunus also briefed the Finnish president about the reform initiatives
undertaken by the interim government.

“I wish you all the best,” Stubb said.

President Stubb also urged the countries in the “Global South” to take more
proactive roles in major international affairs.

The Chief Adviser highlighted the mammoth banking sector looting and plundering
committed by Sheikh Hasina’s dictatorship. Some US$17 billion were robbed
from the banks, he said.

Prof Yunus said his government would hold a major international meeting on
the Rohingya crisis to firmly bring the plight of the refugees back into the
global discussion. (BSS)
