Ansar need diverse training for facing crisis more effectively: Jahangir

Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) today stressed the need for giving diverse training to Bangladesh Ansar and VDP personnel to make them efficient enough in facing any crisis.

“Ansar personnel play a key role in any crisis and disaster of the country. They are always striving to serve the country by providing assistance in maintaining law and order, performing electoral duties, and protecting KPI installations. So, diverse and improved training is required for them,” he said.

The adviser made the remarks while briefing journalists after a views- exchange meeting with senior officers of the force at the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP) Headquarters in the city’s Khilgaon area.

Mentioning that the current number of Ansar and DP members in the country is about 61 lakh, “This large force will be further trained and used for the socio-economic development of the country. Their training is also being diversified. “

Jahangir said everyone of the force will be trained in various work-oriented trades, including basic weapons training.

“Through this, it will be possible to properly utilize them in the country’s crisis time in addition to self-employment,” he said.

The home adviser said there is lack of some facilities and benefits for Ansar personnel.

“We are trying our best to resolve them,” he said.

Replying to a question about taking action against the police personnel involved in attack on the students-people during the July-August mass uprising, he said, action would be taken against the responsible police men after thorough investigation.

Jahangir thanked the journalists for their strong role in preventing Indian media propaganda.

“You have given a good response to the Indian media propaganda by presenting accurate news. Due to your correct and timely role, their propaganda has largely been stopped,” he said.
