Sylhet crush Metro to stay unbeaten in NCL

Sylhet Division retained its top spot in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) point table after cruising to an innings and 139 runs win over Dhaka Metro in their fifth round game today at Khulna Stadium.

Pacer Syed Khaled Ahmed claimed 5-45 as Metro were dismissed for only 107 runs in its second innings after resuming the Day 3 at 49-4.

The batting debacle in both innings ensured Metro’s second defeat.

They were bowled out for just 130 in the first innings and Sylhet replied with 376 all out, thanks to inform Amite Hasan’s 101.

Amite who hit a double century in the previous game was adjudged man of the match for the consecutive second time.

It was Sylhet’s third victory in fifth match while they drew the other two matches to keep them unbeaten in the league.

When Metro began the Day 3, they still needed 197 runs to make Sylhet batting for the second time.

But they were able to add just 58 runs to their overnight total to be bowled out for 107 runs.

Khaled who took three wickets in the first innings, sliced Metro to help the team register a victory by innings margin.

His fellow pacer Rejaur Rahman Raja followed his three wickets in the first innings with another three-wicket haul to play a perfect foil to Khaled.

Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed who scalped four wickets in the first innings took one.

Marshall Ayub made some resistance against a disciplined Sylhet attack to make team-best 34 while Abu Haider Rony added 28. (BSS)
