The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved 18 proposals, including three proposals to fix power tariff for procuring power from three solar power plants for a long 20-year period with an overall estimated cost of around Taka 10,612.80 crore.
The approval came from the 5th meeting of the CCGP in this year held today at Cabinet Division at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Secretary of the Cabinet Division (Coordination and Reform) Md Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that the day’s meeting approved a total of eighteen proposals.
He said following a proposal from the Power Division, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) would procure electricity at Taka 10.92 for per kilowatt hour from joint venture of the Energon Renewables (BD) Ltd and PWR for a 20-year period under “No electricity no payment” method with around Taka 3,537.60 crore from the 100MW solar power plant being set up at Rupsa upazila under Khulna district.
Mahmudul Hossain said the BPDB will also procure electricity at Taka 10.92 for per kilowatt hour for a 20-year period also under “No electricity no payment” method from the Consortium of Thien Phu Vietnam New Energy Joint Stock Co and Dream Finder Limited with around Taka 3,537.60 crore from the 100 MW solar power plant being set up at Rajnagar upazila under Moulvibazar District.
He informed that the BPDB would procure electricity at Taka 10.92 for per kilowatt hour from Consortium of China Datang Overseas Investment Co Limited and Engreen Engineering Limited for a 20-year period under “No electricity no payment” method with around Taka 3,537.60 crore from the 100MW solar power plant being set up at Goalanda Upazila under Rajbari district.
Mahmudul Hossain also said following the separate proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the government would procure four cargos LNG with around Taka 1,637.43 crore.
Out of the four cargos, one from Excelerate Energy LP of the USA, one from Ganvar Private Limited of Singapore and another two from Vital Asia of Singapore, he added.
He also informed that following the separate proposals from the Commerce Ministry and Food Ministry, the government would procure Soybean oil, wheat, lentil and sugar from international and local market with around Taka 506.93 crore.
He said following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertilizer from MA’ADEN, Saudi Arabia under state-level agreement with around Taka 255.64 crore.
The BADC will procure another consignment of 30,000 tonnes of MOP fertilizer from JSC Foreign Economic Corporation ‘Prodintrog’, Russia also under state-level agreement with around Taka 95.61 crore. (BSS)
