Each martyr’s family to get Tk 30 lakh from July Shaheed Smriti Foundation

Each family of those who sacrificed their lives in July-August anti-discrimination movement will be provided Taka 30 lakh for their rehabilitation.

“This money will be provided from July Shaheed Smriti Foundation,” Mahfuj Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, told a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital this evening.

Mahfuz Alam said if it is necessary to give more money, after verification it will be given.

He said it is not the case that only those who were martyred in July and August are being rehabilitated, but initiatives are being taken to rehabilitate the families of those who were injured.

The government will take a visible step next week to this end, he added.

Speaking at the briefing, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser for environment, forest and climate change, said if the injured persons need to go abroad for better treatment, they will be sent abroad.

“A list of seven has already been prepared. If more is needed, we will do so. The government is making it clear again that no negligence will be tolerated in the treatment of the injured. All the public and private hospitals of Bangladesh have been asked that they will be given treatment free of cost. However, hospitals were asked to return the money of those who paid for treatment.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam was present at the press briefing.  (BSS)
