Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has adopted full-proof security measures for the celebration of the forthcoming Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu Community, with festive mood and fanfare in the metropolis.
“We have special security steps for each of the 96 puja mondaps with the deployment of police and ansar in the city this year,” said RMP Commissioner Abu Sufiyan, while sharing views with journalists at his office conference hall here today.
He said close circuit (CC) cameras will be installed in the puja mondaps on behalf of the respective puja udjapan committee to avert any untoward incident.
“None will get scopes of creating any chaotic and unruly activities centering the puja festival,” he asserted, adding that Bangladesh Army is also on the field at present.
Replying to a question, the commissioner said additional traffic police will be deployed to free the streets from traffic jams during the puja festival.
“We will arrange awareness among the community to stop the repeat of deaths caused by taking poisonous liquor during the festival,” he added.
He mentioned that there will be adequate security measures to make the immersion event successful.
On the occasion, RMP Commissioner Abu Sufiyan said they have arrested the prime accused of a clueless murder after the best use of information and communication technology on Saturday.
He said Masum Ali, 34, allegedly killed his neighbour auto-rickshaw driver Sazamul Haque, 44, son of Alam Uddin at their Kadipur village under Damkura Police station on September 22 last.
After killing on the spot, Masum decamped with the auto-rickshaw and sold it in Pabna. (BSS)
