Shopping centres and stores in the district are witnessing a huge rush of shoppers ahead of Durga Puja, the largest festival of the Hindu community.
A large number of buyers are seen gathering in all the shopping centers and stores in the district town every day.
While visiting different shopping centers here today, the traders of the markets were very busy selling their commodities as a huge crowd of customers, especially the women and children, flocked to the shopping centers which are open in the morning and continue till midnight.
Due to the gathering of huge buyers, traffic jams in different busy areas including Chawkbazar, Borabazer, Teribazer, Chotobazer, Masbazer and Muktarpara areas had become acute. However, traffic police were seen discharging their duties in these points to control the traffic.
Talking to the BSS, many traders said that meanwhile, the rate of sales of their commodities has increased by this time. But, many buyers alleged that the prices of all products have increased by 10 to 15 percent compared to last year.
The traders informed that readymade garment, Sarees, three-pieces, Panjabies, shoes, cosmetics, children -items and other fashion products and electronic products are being sold in the shopping centers. Even Many women customers are crowding in the jewellery shops to buy gold-ornaments.
Farid Dali, president of Netrakona readymade garment shops owners association, told BSS that a large number of buyers including women, youths and children are crowding in the markets with festive mood to purchase their choice of full new dresses or any other products on the occasion of the Puja festival.
“The volume of transactions is satisfactory in all the markets ahead of the Durga Puja”, he added.
President of Netrakona district chamber of commerce and industries Abdul Wahed said, the Puja marketing has gained momentum here as a huge number of buyers are thronging at the shopping centers everyday to purchase their preferred products.
Meanwhile, the district police administration has taken tight security measures around the shopping centers to ensure security of the buyers and traders, police sources said. (BSS)
