A total of 3,08,221 sacrificial animals are ready for sale ahead of Eid-ul-Azha in the district.
Joypurhat District Animal Resources Department sources said that there are 12,418 small and large animal farms in the district of Joypurhat.
Joypurhat district livestock official said as many as 3,08,221sacrificial animals have been reared to sell during Eid-ul-Azha in the district.
As the Eid-ul-Azha is round the corner, sales in markets of sacrificial animals everywhere in the region are gearing up.
There are 73,935 bulls and cows, 549 buffaloes, 1,86,905 goats and 46,832 sheep. It will be possible to supply 1,58,021 animals to different areas of the country as a surplus after meeting the needs of the district.
Ordinary buyers visiting animal markets and wholesalers from different parts of the country are buying cows, bulls and goats of their choice. On the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the demand of the sacrificial animals in the district is 1,50,200, official of Joypurhat District Animal Resources Department sources said.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Noore Alam said that maintaining the overall security system of animal markets and setting up check posts to prevent fake money, strengthening the guard to prevent cow theft at the rural level and the detective police are also working along with the general police.
Zonal Manager Shakeel Mahmud of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) in Joypurhat Zonal Office said the bank has disbursed Tk 29.18 million loan to livestock sector.
Deputy Director of Animal Resources Department) Obaidul Islam said that the local non-governmental organization ‘Jaks Foundation’ has arranged to sell cows and goats through online in Dhaka under the domestic system of cow fattening program. (BSS)
