March 7, the historic day for the Bengalis, was observed today in Tungipara of Gopalganj district with enthusiasm.
In 2017, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recognised the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a world documentary heritage.
To mark the day, people from all walks of life placed flowers at the mausoleum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara this morning. A huge number people came from different districts paid their tributes to Bangabandhu in Tungipara for his March 7 speech that promoted the Bengalis to fight against the Pakistani occupation forces. In fact, a stream of people was seen in Tungipara, the birth place of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Gopalganj District Administration placed wreath at the mausoleum at around 10 am. Placing the wreath higher officials stood in solemn silence for sometimes at the shrine. Later they offered Sura Fateha and took part a munajat seeking blessings of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members.
District Awami League, Zila Muktijoddha Sangsad, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Zila Parishad, Tungipara upazila AL, Sheikh Rehana Textile Engineering College and Govt Bangabandhu College, separately paid their tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his historic March 7 speech among others political and socio-cultural organisations in Tungipara.
