Cold storage owners demand uninterrupted power

The Bangladesh Cold Storage Association (BCSA)
has demanded uninterrupted power to protect products from being rotten.

They made the demand by sending a letter to the Ministry of Power, Energy and
Mineral Resources, said a press release.

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Senior
Vice-President and BCSA President Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu said due to
load shedding, it is not possible to control the temperature of the cold
storage.

As a result, the quality of the stored product is deteriorating and even the
product is at risk of rotting, he added.

He also expressed apprehension that if frozen products are damaged, the
market of these products may become unstable.

Considering the situation, he urged the government to take quick steps to
ensure uninterrupted power supply to the cold storages. (BSS)
