Europe has warmed 2.3C above 1850-1900 levels: UN

Europe should brace for more deadly
heatwaves driven by climate change, according to a sweeping report that said
the world’s fastest-warming continent was some 2.3 degrees Celsius hotter
last year than in pre-industrial times.

Extreme heat, crop-withering drought, record sea-surface temperatures, and
unprecedented glacier melt are among a litany of impacts laid out in the
State of the Climate in Europe 2022 report, by the World Meteorological
Organization and the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service. (BSS/AFP)
