1720 farmers get seed of Aman paddy, fertilizers in Sundarganj.

As many as 1720 poor and marginal farmers of Sundarganj upazila in the district got high quality seed of Aman paddy and chemical fertilizers from the government this morning.

The seed and fertilizers were distributed to the farmers through upazila agriculture office under Agri Incentive Programme of the government.

A function on seed and fertilizer distribution was held at the office of the upazila town with Rashedul Kabir, Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO), in the chair this morning.

Chairman of Sundarganj upazila parishad Ashraful Alam Sarker Lebu attended the function and addressed as chief guest while Abdur Rashid Reza, Mayor of Sundarganj Municipality was present as special guest.

Upazila Chairman Lebu in his speech termed the present government as farmers friendly and said considering the welfare of the poor and marginal farmers, the government adopted agri incentive programme to help them to earn economic profit and achieve food security on the way to achieve sustainable development goals by 2030.

The chairman also urged the benefited farmers to take care the crop land properly to get desired production against the crop, he added.

Later, he distributed seed of Aman paddy and chemical fertilizers including diammonium phosphate (DAP) and Murate of Potash (MoP) free of cost.

In reply to a query, UAO Rashedul Kabir said the seed of Aman paddy of different varieties like BRRI Dhan 52, 71, 75, 80 were distributed to the selected farmers of the upazila.

After getting Aman seed and fertilizers from the government, the farmers expressed their gratefulness and thanked the government for giving them Aman seed and fertilizers free of cost.

Upazila Agriculture Extension Officers Md. Mizanur Rahman, Md. Anisur Rahman, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers, union parishad chairmen, councilors, political leaders and journalists were present on the occasion. (BSS)
