Fugitive murder convict arrested in Fatikchhari

Rapid Action Battalion-12 and RAB-7 in a joint drive held a fugitive convict, who was awarded life imprisonment in a murder case filed in the district in 1993.

The detainee was identified as Azahar Ali, 28, hailed from Shibganj Upazila of the district.

RAB-12 in a press conference this noon said at it’s office. Police Super Mir Monir Hossain of RAB-12 said Azahar Ali Was held at Fatickchhari Bazar in Chattogram district yesterday evening after 28 years.

He said in 1993 Azahar Ali killed his wife Jahanara Begum over family dispute in Chatua Shalukgari area in Shibganj upazila. In 1995 he left Bogura getting bail. By this time a court in Bogura sentenced him to life term imprisonment in his absence.

Azahar Ali was handed over to Shibganj Thana police today. (BSS) –
