Western missions show firm commitment to universal declaration of HR

Diplomatic missions of 13 western countries and European Commission in Dhaka showed their firm commitment to universal declaration of Human Rights (HR) marking the International Human Rights Day being observed today.

“Our commitment to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is unwavering,” the missions said by issuing a joint statement marking the day.

On the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the statement was signed by the embassies/high commissions of Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, and the Delegation of the European Union.

The joint statement reconfirmed the western countries support and solidarity with those who work to defend and advance human rights, fundamental freedoms, and equality for all.
The missions highlighted the fundamental role of democracy plays in protecting human rights and promoting development. (BSS)
