S. Korea ‘partially suspends’ military deal with North after satellite launch

South Korea said Wednesday it had partially suspended a 2018 military deal with the nuclear-armed North and would resume surveillance operations along the border after Pyongyang said it had successfully put a spy satellite into orbit.

“The military agreement has been partially suspended,” a government spokesperson told AFP. “The remaining procedure is for the defence ministry to notify North Korea. But since communication lines with North Korea have been cut off, the defence ministry will just announce it.” (BSS/AFP)
