Divisional Book Fair ends in Khulna

The eight-day Divisional Book Fair
ended peacefully on Saturday with the presence of a good number of book lovers and visitors.

On the occasion, a closing ceremony was held on the premises of Divisional Government Public Library in Khulna.

Additional Divisional Commissioner Md. Tabibur Rahman presided over the closing ceremony.

Additional DIG of Khulna Range Jaydev Chowdhury, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mukul Kumar Maitro, Additional Superintendent of Police S M Al-Beruni and valiant Freedom Fighter Md Alamgir Kabir addressed the ceremony as special guests.

Mohammad Hamidur Rahman, Deputy Director of Departmental Government Public Library, delivered the welcome speech in the closing ceremony.

The guests said a book is not only a source of knowledge but also the best friend of the reader. Mental development is possible only when we read books.

A book fair is not just a place to sell books, it is a meeting place where racial and religious separation is minimized, they said.

In order to educate the nation, the young generation should be interested in reading more books. The younger generation will stay away from drugs and other vices if they read books.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs in cooperation with National Bibliography, Divisional Administration, Bangladesh Book Publisher and Book Selling Association organised the fair. (BSS)
