21st general meeting of BNACWC held

The 21st general meeting of the Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) was held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Armed Forces Division (AFD), Dhaka Cantonment today.

Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division as well as Chairman BNACWC Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman presided over it, said in a press release of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

A total of 43 senior officers from various ministries, organizations and armed forces participated in the meeting along with members of BNACWC, the release added.

The meeting reviewed the progress of the implementation of the decisions of the 20th general meeting and discussed the important issues to be done in the future with the aim of more effectively implementing the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) in Bangladesh.

In the meeting, important discussions were held and decisions taken about the consolidation of overall chemical safety in Bangladesh and effective management to prevent chemical accidents.

It was informed in the meeting that the work-area of the Chemical Disaster Response Team (CDRT) formed by the forces to respond to accidents related to chemical warfare agents in Bangladesh has been finalized and its capacity-building work is underway. (BSS)
