Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque today hoped that the authority of Rampal power plant will set up more water plants so that people living in Rampal-Mongla areas can get safe drinking water more easily than before.
Noting that since the construction of Rampal Power Plant, many social activities were conducted by the authority concerned, he said:” Several drinking-water plants have been set up so far. As a result, the sufferings of people for getting drinking water have reduced a lot. I expect more water plants to be installed on behalf of the power plant authority.”
The mayor expressed the hope while addressing, as the chief guest, the inauguration ceremony of ‘Iron Removal Water Treatment Plant with Pipe Line Water Distribution System’ established by Bangladesh-India Friendship Company in various unions adjacent to Rampal Power Plant.
The event was organized by Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Ltd (BIFPCL) on Zero Point premises adjacent to the power plant in Khulna.
Earlier, Mayor Khaleque inaugurated a drinking-water plant in Hurka Union of Rampal upazila.
With Project Director of BIFPCL Atanu Dutta in the chair, the event was attended, among others, by Rampal Upazila Chairman Sheikh Moazzem Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Najibul Alam and Hurka Union Parishad Chairman Tapan Kumar Goldar.
At least even potable water plants have been set up in different unions of two upazilas under the initiative of Rampal Power Plant.
