3 egg-wholesalers fined for not following proper sales rules

Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection today fined three wholesalers of egg for not hanging the egg’s price list alongside selling eggs without having any original receipts in city’s Kaptan Bazar.

Led by Assistant Director at Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Abdul Jabbar Mondol, a motoring drive was conducted there as the price of egg has been hiked unexpectedly.

While monitoring the Kaptan Bazar area, Assistant Director Mondol told the newsmen that the wholesalers concerned are selling eggs without having proper information including wholesale rate and cash memo.

In some cases, it was seen that some businessmen sold 1 lakh and 800 pieces of egg without mentioning the wholesale-purchase rate in the receipt, he said.

“We did not find original cash memo,” he said, adding that as the wholesalers also did not follow the proper rules of selling eggs by hanging the price list at their shops, three wholesalers were fined by Taka 30,000 (each Tk 10,000).
Posing an issue of warning towards the big companies who are not providing wholesale receipts, he said those companies will also be brought under the purview of law in coming days. (BSS)
