No alternative to sports for healthy nation: Sujan

Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan has said there is no alternative to sports to build a healthy and strong nation. There is no substitute for sports to keep the nation away from drugs and subcultures.

“The students should concentrate on sports as well as studies to stay
away from drug addiction, militancy, terrorism and social media addition for their physical and mental tranquility and development to flourish latent talent,” he said.

The minister said this while distributing trophy and medal among the winner team at the concluding ceremony of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib football tournament and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib football tournament on Sheikh Rasel Mini stadium ground here as the chief guest on Friday.

Upazila administration and upazila primary education office jointly arranged the tournament with Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) of Debiganj Md Golam Ferdous in the chair.

Upazila primary education officer Ajmal Hossein gave welcome speech.

The function was addressed, among others, by former upazila chairman and upazila Awami League general secretary Hasnat Zaman Chowdary Jarje, female vice-chairman Ritu Akter and Tapriganj UP chairman Golam Rahman Sarker. (BSS)
