Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the two sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 15.07 points or 0.24 per cent to settle at 6,366.17. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, also rose 2.51 points to finish at 2,200.28. But the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) closed the day with 0.42 point down at 1,387.17.

Daily trade turnover plunged to Taka 8,773.58 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 10,445.62 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 365 issues traded, 116 advanced, 67 declined and 182 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Fuwang Food dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by SEAPEARL, RDFOOD, KBPPWBIL and MIDLANDBANK.

CRYSTALINS was the day’s top gainer, rising 9.91 per cent, while Rupali Life was the worst loser, shedding 9.77 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -gaining 11.85 points to settle at 18,780.25 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX rising 8.96 points to close at 11,228.77.

Of the issues traded, 54 declined, 82 advanced and 82 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 44.82 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 10.53 crore. (BSS)
