250 erosion victims get food items from Upazila administration in Gaibandha

As many as 250 river erosion victims of Kamarjani union under Sadar upazila here today got food items from Sadar upazila administration this noon to mitigate their sufferings caused by river erosion.

Official sources said with the rise of water level in the river of Brahmaputra, river erosion has taken a serious turn at several points of Kamarjani union under Sadar upazila of the district within last few days.

Due to the erosion, the affected people of Kharzanir, Koraibari and Par diyara chars of the union are in trouble and passing their hard days with anxiety for want of food.

To mitigate their sufferings, upazila administration stood beside of them and distributed edible food items to 250-river erosion affected people of the chars.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Sadar Upazila Shariful Alam accompanied by local upazila parishad chairman Md. Matiar Rahman and councilors of the parishad went to the chars and distributed food items to the erosion victims as chief guest.

Each of the beneficiaries received a package containing rice, pulse, sugar, oil, noodles and biscuits, Chairman Matiar Rahman said.

Earlier, the UNO and his companions visited the river erosion affected areas of the chars. (BSS)
