Special Agricultural Train starts plying from Chapainawabganj

The first special train for carrying agricultural goods left Rohanpur railway station in Chapainawabganj for Dhaka this morning.

The West Zone of Bangladesh Railway has allocated this train for transporting agricultural products including vegetables, fish and meat to Dhaka at a cheaper cost.

There are arrangements of refrigerated luggage vans along with general vans in the special train, said Rohonpur Railway Station Master Junayed Al Mamun.

The special train has been scheduled to leave Rohanpur station in Chapainawabganj district at 9.15 am and to reach Tejgaon station in Dhaka at 5.20 pm.

It will ply on every Saturday, he added saying that the carrying cost of per kilogram of goods has been fixed at Taka 1.30.

From the starting point the train will have 13 intervals at Nachole, Amnura, Kakonhat, Rajshahi, Sardah Road, Arani, Abdulpur, Azimnagar, Ishwardi Bypass, Chatmohar, Boral Bridge, Joydevpur and Dhaka Airport stations.

The train has been launched so that the growers and traders of agricultural goods can avoid the hazards of carrying perishable goods by roads, the sources concerned said. (BSS)
