Police to remain alert to keep law and order stable: KMP commissioner

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Haider has said police will remain alert to maintain the law and order situation during the celebration of the upcoming Durga Puja.

“KMP will perform its duties with the utmost professionalism and sincerity to ensure smooth celebration of the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community,” he made the remarks while exchanging views with the leaders of the city unit Puja Udjapan Parishad at the KMP headquarters last night.

The police commissioner said that all security measures have been taken for Durga Puja celebration, adding that KMP officials, including, the officer-in-charge of all metropolitan police stations, have already started visiting Puja Mondaps.

He also urged the leaders of the Puja committee to deploy their own volunteers at each Puja Mondap to ensure all-time security side by side police.

He also requested them to inform the national emergency service 999 or the OC of respective police stations if any untoward incidents take place.

President of City Puja Udjapon Parishad Shyamol Halder, general secretary Proshanta Kumar Kundu, Presidents and general secretaries of all thana units Puja Udjapan Parishad and high officials of KMP, among others, were present.

Earlier, the KMP commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Haider exchanged views with the leaders of Khulna Imam (scholar) Parishad and Islamic Foundation.

He urged the Islamic scholars to play a vital role in keeping communal harmony during the Durga Puja. (BSS)
