Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 47.71 points or 0.83 per cent to settle at 5804.42. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 6.78 points to finish at 2124.71 and 6.90 points closing at 1241.26.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 9632.63 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 8986.48 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 397 issues traded, 298 closed green, 67 in the red and 32 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

BATBC topped the turnover chart, followed by MJLBD, OLYMPIC, RENATA and GP.

FORTUNE was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while SPCL was the worst loser, losing 9.92 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 117.72 points to settle at 16520.24 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 71.50 points to close at 9954.59.

Of the issues traded, 153 advanced, 70 declined and 16 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 45.38 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 13.96 crore. (BSS)
