Govt signs 277m Euro financing deal with AFD

The government has signed three Credit Facility Agreements (CFAs) with the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD) under which the bilateral development agency of France would provide a total of 277 million Euro to Bangladesh against three projects.

Out of the total amount, the AFD will provide additional 62 million Euro for the ‘Greater Dhaka Sustainable Urban Transport Project’ (BRT Company Component), 175 million Euro for the ‘Chattogram Metropolitan Sewerage Project for North Kattoli Catchment'(North Kattoli) and the rest of 40 million Euro for the ‘Bangladesh Environmental Sustainability and Transformation (BEST)’ project.

Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Sharifa Khan and AFD country director for Bangladesh Benoit CHASSATTE, signed the three CFAs on June 22 on behalf of their respective sides, said an ERD press release.

Since the beginning of its operations in Bangladesh in 2012, the AFD has so far committed 2,101 million Euro in technical assistance projects while it provided 300 million Euro as budget support loan to Bangladesh.

The AFD supports development projects for urban development and infrastructures, power and green energy, corporate and social responsibility. (BSS)
