Savar BNP observes sit in for 2nd straight day

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is observing sit in programme for the second straight day today here demanding the trial of Sheikh Hasina and other accused for killing students and mass people in police firing during nationwide anti-discrimination student movement.

As part of the BNP’s central programme, leaders and activists of Savar thana and Poura BNP and associate bodies have been staging the programme since Thursday morning.

To avoid sabotage and anarchy, BNP leaders and activists took position at different significant points including Aminbazar, Baliarpur, Hemayetpur, Genda, thana stand, Bazar Bus stand, Dhamsona in Ashulia, Baipail and Jirabo on Dhaka-Aricha and Dhaka-Tangail highway.

Assistant family welfare secretary of the BNP’s central committee Dr Dewan Mohammad Salauddin delivered brief address at the function.

“With the instructions of Sheikh Hasina, students and mass people have been killed in the country…the trial of this heinous crime will have to be held on the soil of this country”, he said.

BNP along with the students and mass people will resist any kind of anarchy created by anybody centering the August 15, he also said.

Dr Dewan also urged the part men to hold the programme peacefully till the afternoon.

Former Dhaka district Jubo Dal Joint Convener Khorshed Alam, VP Badiuzzaman Badir, BNP leader Obaidur Rahman Ovi and other local leaders, among others, were present. (BSS)
