RAB recovers 35 looted firearms in CTG

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered 35 firearms and 275 rounds bullet from the local people and other sources, looted during the attacks from various police stations in the city on the eve of the victory celebration of the students on August.

RAB sources said that 14 of these recovered firearms were damaged. According to RAB-7, miscreants ransacked, set fire and looted various police stations of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).

Heavy arms like Sub-Machine Guns (SMGs) and Chinese rifles are among the recovered weapons, the elite force said here today.

Along with the SMG, Chinese rifles, shotguns, pistols and gas guns, 275 rounds of ammunition of various types have been recovered in the operation, RAB said.

The recovered arms, ammunition and other equipment were handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) of the CMP.

Celebrations broke out across the port city after Sheikh Hasina left the country following her resignation from her premiership on August 5. Several police establishments were attacked, set on fire and looted the arms and ammunition at that time.

Several police stations in the city, including Kotwali, Pahartali, Patenga and EPZ, were set ablaze and heavily looted during the attacks and acts of sabotage by the criminals. (BSS)
