Stocks extend gaining streak

Country’s both the bourses– Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)– today witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 192.37 points or 3.55 per cent to settle at 5,618.79. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 87.43 points to finish at 2,022.17 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 42.53 points to close at 1,219.14.

Out of 396 issues traded, 266 advanced, 114 declined and 16 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Daily trade turnover increased to Taka 7,755.58 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 7,499.97 million at the previous session of the week.

BATBC dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by SQURPHARMA, ROBI, CITYBANK and DBH.

ACIFORMULA was the day’s top gainer, rising 10 per cent, while CRYSTALINS was the worst loser, shedding 2.99 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -gaining 545.10 points to settle at 15,938.25 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX rising 330.49 points to close at 9,609.90.

Of the issues traded, 75 declined, 160 advanced and 21 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 1.39 crore shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 225.16 crore. (BSS)
