A total of 650 small and marginal farmers in Bagatipara upazila of the district were given seeds and fertilizers free of cost under the agricultural incentive programme as agricultural incentive for the cultivation of Aman paddy in the current season.
To increase the interest of farmers in Aman paddy cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the numbers of farmers have been increased significantly in the district, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said.
Member of Parliament of Natore-1 constituency ((Lalpur and Bagatipara) Md. Shihedul Islam (Bakul) inaugurates the distribution function and handed over the incentive among the famers of the upazila as the chief guest this morning with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nilufa Sarkar in the chair.
Upazila Administration and Upazila Agriculture Office jointly organized the distribution function.
The distribution function was held in the Upazila Parishad Auditorium this morning.
The chief guest said the present government is farmer-friendly as it has taken various steps for development of agriculture and working relentlessly for the development of agriculture and farmers. As a result, production of food in the country has increased manifold, he added.
According to the Agriculture Department, 450 farmers were given 5 kg of Aman rice seeds and 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer each.
A total of 100 farmers were given 2 kg of hybrid Aman seeds each and 100 farmers were given one kg of summer onion seeds, 20 kg of of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 20 kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer and Cash Taka 2800 for maintenance each, DAE said. (BSS)
