Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered 65 hand bombs conducting an overnight drive at a house apparently turned into a bomb manufacturing factory located at Tekpara in East Badda here.
The elite force also arrested three persons identifying them as M Fahim Rahman Abdullah, 22, M Limon, 20, and M Akul Mia, 21.
RAB officials familiar with the drive said the anti-crime force traced and immediately laid a siege to “the bomb factory” in Hazi bari area around 9 pm on Wednesday.
“We have found huge hand bombs and explosives from a factory located at a house in Tekpara area of East Badda”, said Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-3 Lieutenant Colonel M Feroz Kabir.
One Sajib and Masum are supposed to make a deal with the arrestees for supplying these bombs at a cost of Taka 26,000 and provided them necessary raw materials and chemicals like gun powder, sprinter and explosives, claimed the RAB official.
According to the deal, the consignment of the explosives was scheduled to send Gazipur by a bus on Wednesday night, he added.
These powerful explosives, which were not similar to the cocktail, would have been distributed throughout the country, RAB’s bomb disposal unit suspected.
These explosives have been manufactured equipping with trigger mechanism technology and it could be exploded into the open spaces and cause damage within the radius of 30 meters.
The bombs are supposed to be made for conducting sabotage, said the RAB-3 CO.
RAB continues operation to nab Sajib and the factory owner.
A case was filed with Badda Police Station under explosives control act. (BSS)
