‘County has to be smart to transform itself’

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Humayun Kabir Khondkar said the country has to be smart to transform into a smart Bangladesh.

“The work should be made smart to make Bangladesh smart as everything now is moving towards automation. People are closely linked with technology. People have made their work easier through the use of technology. If there is a fire somewhere, it is being planned to bring the fire under control with the help of robots instead of sending fire fighters there. In keeping with this change, we have to change ourselves,” he added.

The Information and Broadcasting Secretary said these as chief guest in a meeting on ‘Establishment of Good Governance: Participant Participation’ after visiting the Bangladesh Television Chattogram Center, held at its conference room on Wednesday.

He said life become toxic if the gap between expectation and achievement is large.

“So we have to take care that there must be harmony between expectation and achievement. Chattogram Television should also move forward in keeping with the current world. Television is bound to fall behind if it doesn’t have the kind of content that people see these days,” he added.

He said efforts should be made to bring back the old traditions through modern equipment, quality images, production of timely programs and debate competitions.

Already many changes have been occurred in Chattogram Television by the initiative of the present government, he added.

Bangladesh Television Chattogram Center General Manager Noor Anwar Hossain presided over the meeting while North District Mohila Awami League President Dilowara Yousuf, artistes, professionals and prominent businessmen were present in the meeting.

The information secretary had also discussion on how to take this center forward in the future.(BSS)
