Youth gets 5-yr jail for hacking Imo in Rajshahi

A trial tribunal here today convicted a youth
and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for five years on charge of
hacking an Imo account.

The convict identified as Raju Ahmed, 27, son of Azizur Rahman of Moharkoya
Bhangapara village under Lalpur upazila in Natore district has also been
fined Taka five lakh.

Ziaur Rahman, Judge of Cyber Tribunal, found the convict guilty of the charge
and handed down the verdict in presence of the convict in the court.

According to the prosecution story, in the guise of a female, Raju Ahmed had
opened an Imo account. Through using the account, he hacked the Imo account
of a woman of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj and her expatriated brother in law.
Afterwards, he demanded Taka 20,000 from the woman for giving back the ID.

Being aggrieved, the victim woman lodged a general diary with Siddhirganj
Police Station on December 14, 2022.

Subsequently, police arrested the youth on March 13, 2023 and lodged a case
with Lalpur Police Station in this connection.

Upon completion of investigation police pressed charges accusing Raju Ahmed. (BSS)
