South Korea to cooperate Bangladesh in manufacturing own brand cars

South Korea has expressed its keenness to cooperate Bangladesh in manufacturing its own brand cars.

South Korean Ambassador in Dhaka Park Young-sik today expressed the keenness while meeting with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at his office in the city, said a press release.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including new investment in Bangladesh.

Humayun said the government has taken initiatives to manufacture Bangladesh’s own brand cars through Pragati Industries, a company of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) under the Industries Ministry.

“If we get cooperation from South Korea in this regard, our car manufacturing activities will be accelerated. We have included the issue of 1500-1600 cc car manufacturing in the Automobile Industry Development Policy-2021,” he added.

Senior Secretary of the Industries Ministry Zakia Sultana and former South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Seong Doo Ahn, among others, were present on the occasion. (BSS)
