Police recovers 8.4-kg heroin in Rajshahi

Police in an overnight anti-crime drive recovered 8.4 kilograms of heroin from a house in the district last night.

On a tip-off, a police team conducted a five-hour drive in the house at Madarpur Dimdanga village under Godagari upazila and recovered the huge contraband item after searching the house around 3 am.

Addressing a press briefing at his office this noon, Superintendent of Police (SP) Saifur Rahman said this is one of the greatest achievements in terms of drug recovery during the last couple of months.

He said the owner of the house Faridul Islam, 27, and its caretaker Sohel Rana, 32, son of Ataur Rahman, fled away sensing police presence quickly.
SP Saifur Rahman said they are trying to bring them to book as early as possible.

Elaborating their track records he added that the absconding people were involved in drugs trafficking and trading for long.

Additional SPs Ashraful Alam and Rafiqul Alam, Assistant SP Sohel Rana and Officer-in-Charge of Godagari Police Station Abdul Matin were present at the press conference. (BSS)
