‘Chicken for Linda!’ wins top prize at Annecy Festival

The French comedy “Chicken for Linda!” won the top prize at the Annecy animated film festival in France, the organisers announced late Saturday.

The feature-length film, directed by Chiara Malta and Sebastien Laudenbach, won the Silver Crystal award at Annecy, a major festival for animated films.

The film also got a screening at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

The festival’s Jury Award went to “Four Souls of Coyote”, directed by Hungary’s Aron Gauder, about native Americans fighting an oil pipeline project.

The Audience Prize went to “Sirocco and the Kingdom of Air Streams”, by Franco-Belgian director Benoit Chieux, about two sisters caught up in a magical adventure.

The jury considered 11 films at the festival, which organisers say has enjoyed record attendance over the past week, welcoming 15,820 people from 102 different countries — up 19 percent from 2022, itself a record year.(BSS/AFP)
