77 best taxpayers honored in Khulna

Like in the previous years, the government has honoured 77 best tax payers of 10 districts in Khulna division under Khulna Income Tax Zone.

They were accorded a reception yesterday (Tuesday) for being highest tax payers, long time taxpayers, highest women taxpayers and youth recognised tax payers.

A total of seven tax payers of each district of Khulna division were awarded for highest contribution in the four categories.

The government conferred the accolade on them as part of its efforts to encourage high-income taxpayers to pay tax properly.

Through a ceremony held at the Auditorium of Khulna Public College, the best tax payers of four categories have been handed over certificates and crests.

G M Abul Kalam Kaikobad, Member of Audit, Intelligence & Investigation National Board of Revenue (NBR), was present in the award giving ceremony as the chief guest.

Khulna Income Tax Zone organised the function with commissioner of Khulna Income Tax Zone Md. Sirajul Karim in the chair.

The chief guest said, the government has received income tax through online which makes it easy and hassle-free to submit return of the taxpayers. The taxpayers welcomed the government’s implementation of e-Return enthusiastically.

The NBR began honouring taxpayers at the city corporation and district levels from 2008.

Among others, Income Tax Commissioner of Tax Appellate Division Md. Tahidul Islam, Additional Commissioner of Customs Excise and VAT Commissioner M Shafiuzzaman, Income Tax Additional Commissioner Md. Mohitur Rahman, Principal of Khulna Public College Lt. Col. Mohammad Shamimul Ahasan Shamim, President of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kazi Aminul Haque and president of Income Tax Lawyer Association, Adv. Golam Rasul addressed the function as special guests. (BSS)
