One held with 101-kg ganja in Rangpur

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested a presumed drug trader with 101 kilograms of contraband ganja from the Highway Restaurant point on the Rangpur-Bogura highway in Mithapukur upazila here last night.

“On a tip off, an operational squad of the Crime Prevention Specialized Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 searched a Bogura bound maize-laden truck from Rangpur and seized the huge quantity of ganja and arrested the man from the spot,” said a press release today.

The arrested person was identified as Md. Farhad Islam, 26, son of Khalilur Rahman of village Chowkidar Para in Sadar upazila of Kurigram district.

During interrogation, the detainee admitted that he had been involved in drug trading for a long time.

“After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested person to Mithapukur police station today,” the release added. (BSS)
