Ongoing mild heat wave may subside: Met office

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted that the ongoing mild heat wave over ten districts of the country may become less intense at some places in the next 24 hours commencing 9am today.

“Mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Jashore, Chuadanga, Barishal, Patuakhali and Bhola and it may abate from some places,” said a met office bulletin this morning.

Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is also likely to occur at most places over Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over the country, it added.

However, day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Country’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius at Rangpur, while today’s minimum temperature was 23.8 degrees Celsius at Bandarban.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 132 mm at Kutubdia in Dhaka division.

The sun sets at 6:07pm today and rises at 5:44am tomorrow in the capital. (BSS)
