2 held with firearm, heroin in Rajshahi

Police in an anti-crime operation arrested two alleged anti-social elements with a firearm and one kilogram of heroin in the district last night.

Police said the arrested persons were identified as Jamal Uddin, 39, son of Rakibur Rahman of Diar Manik Char village and Ismail Hossain, 24, son of Anarul Haque of Bhagabantapur village, both under Godagari upazila in the district.

On a tip-off, a Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a raid at Mohishalbari Bazar area under Godagari upazila around 11.30 pm and arrested them with a one-shooter gun and one kilogram of heroin red-handed.

Another police team arrested an alleged drug-peddler identified as Riaz Ahmed, 30, with 25 grams of heroin after searching a passenger bus at Shibpur area under Puthiya upazila in the district last night.

Two separate cases were lodged with the respective police stations in these connections and the arrested persons with the seized drugs and firearm were handed over to police. (BSS)
