Two held with 3.7 kg heroin in Natore

Police arrested two persons along with 3.7 kilograms (kg) of heroin from a truck in Bara Harishpur Bypass area under Sadar upazila of the district town last night.

The arrested were identified as Md. Sagar Ali, 21, son of Md. Abdus Sattar, a truck driver of Sahebpara area of Chapainawabganj district and Salah Uddin, 21, son of Md Salim, resident of Brahmangaon area in Kaliganj Police Station of Gazipur district.

Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam disclosed this information at a press briefing this afternoon.

The Superintendent of Police also said that on the basis of secret information, a Dhaka-bound stone-laden truck from Chapainawabganj was searched while operating a check post at Bara Harishpur bypass intersection around 3am and 3.7 kg of heroin was recovered from nine packets in polythene inside the dash board of the truck. Police arrested the driver and the helper of the truck.

The recovered heroin is worth around Taka 4 crore, he said.

A case has been filed in this connection under the Narcotics Control Act, officer-in-charge (OC) of Natore Police Station Nasim Ahmed said. (BSS)
