European stock markets drop at open

European stock markets fell at the start of trading on Tuesday with attention turning to US inflation data later in the week as the earnings seasons winds down.

London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index fell 0.2 percent to 7,536.89 points after a steady showing for Europe’s main indices on Monday.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX index shed 0.5 percent to 15,875.56 points at the open Tuesday and the Paris CAC 40 lost 0.4 percent to 7,291.35. (BSS/AFP)
