Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam today underscor d the need for unity to bring fascist Hasina back and put her under trial.
“If we stay united, we will be able to bring Hasina back and put her under the law’, he said at a seminar held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia this morning.
The seminar titled ‘Aspiration of the July Revolution and the Media’ was held at the Bir shreshtha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium jointly organized by the University authority and Islamic University Journalist’s Association.
Marking the seminar, Chief Advisor’s press secretary, also the keynote speaker of the event said, ‘Islamic University is an important institution in Bangladesh. It is highly commendable that half of the students here are female, which creates a very positive image.’
Watching the July movement documentary based on Islamic University, he appreciated girls’ participation and leadership.
He also urged the university authority to honour martyrs by changing names of dormitories that still reflect the legacy of dictatorship.
Besides, mentioning his participation in the July uprising he said, ‘During the Internet shutdown, only my office had the internet connection. I provided this facility to send news to the international media.
After just five months of revolution , the country has achieved stability, he added.
Some may think that the interim government is working at a slow pace, but in reality, economic recovery has been achieved. Economic momentum has increased. Justice and accountability are being ensured through the trials of disappearances, murders, and genocides. As part of this legal process, we will bring Sheikh Hasina back to the country for trial, he said.
In the seminar, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah graced the event as chief guest while the session was presided over by the chairman of Communication and Multimedia Journalism department, Professor Dr Rashiduzzaman.
However, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Yeaqub Ali, Treasurer Professor Dr Jahangir Alam and Treasurer of Jashore University of Science and Technology, Professor Dr Hossain Al Mamun also joined the event as special guests.
Additionally, special correspondent of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), S M Rashidul Islam also delivered his speech there. (BSS)
