Political course changed thru Nov 7 revolution: Mir Helal

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Assistant Organising Secretary Mir Helal today said the country’s the then political trend was changed with the soldier-people revolution on November 7, 1975.

“The country and the nation got new direction through the revolution,” he said after paying rich tributes to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman at his alter in Biplob Udyan at Sholoshohor in Chattogram city marking the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

People from all strata of life took to the streets on that day for showing their complete voluntary support to the revolution, he said.

“Ziaur Rahman was freed from the captivity through the sepoy-people revolution and an unprecedented instance of solidarity was created after the revolution,” he said.

The 7th November was observed as the national holiday during the BNP regime, he said, adding that they have not been able to celebrate the day peacefully in the last one and a half decade of the fascist government.

The BNP leader called upon the government to announce 7th November as national holiday after recognizing it as the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

“The country’s independence and sovereignty was cemented under the undisputed leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. The country had started progressing towards multi-party democracy since the day,” he said.

Mir Helal called upon all to work in unison to ensure the country’s economic emancipation, peace, discipline, equity, justice and humanity.

Chattogram Metropolitan Chhatra Dal Convenor Saiful Alam, secretary general Shariful Islam Tuhin, joint convenors Arifur Rahman Mithu, Shahidul Islam Sumon, Sabbir Ahmed and MA Hasan Bappa, members, Al Mamun Saddam and Delwar Hossain Shishir, were present, among others. (BSS)
