Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) today reduced the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Taka 75 per 12-kg cylinder to Tk 999 from existing rate of Taka 1,074 at retailer level.
Chairman of the BERC Md Nurul Amin made the announcement at a press conference at his office in city’s Karwan Bazara area.
He said the new price of the LPG would be effective from this evening.
According to the BERC, now the price of LPG stands at Tk 999 per 12-kg cylinder, which was Tk 1,074 in June.
The BERC chairman said the government has fixed the price of LPG, which will be effective in all places.
Saudi-based agency Aramco used to fix the price of these two components every month. It is known as the Saudi Contract Price (CP). The BERC adjusts LPG prices in the country based on this Saudi CP.
The price of different quantity of LPG cylinders will be determined accordingly.
The BERC adjusted the price after LPG prices went down in the global market.
The new price of LPG (auto gas) used in cars has been fixed at Tk 46.59 per liter, which was Taka 50.09 earlier, while per kilogram of LPG at Taka 83.21 at retailer level inclusive VAT owned by private sector.
According to the BERC decision, new price at retailer level owned by private sector, 12.5 kg LPG has been fixed at Tk 1,040 at retailer level, 15-kg at Tk 1,248, 16 kg at Tk 1,331, 18 kg at Tk 1,498, 20 kg at Tk 1,664, 22 kg at Tk 1,831, 25 kg at Tk 2,080, 30 kg at Tk 2,496, 33 kg at Tk 2,746, 35 kg at Tk 2,912 and 45 kg at Tk 3,744.
According to Saudi Aramco announcement, price of the Propane and Butane, the price of LPG $400 and $375 per ton was fixed for July 2023 by Saudi Contract Price (Saudi CP) as per Propane and Butane ratio 35:65. The Saudi CP price was fixed $383.75 per ton considering the ration between Propane and Butane average. (BSS)
