Pakistan, Bangladesh fined for slow over-rates in Rawalpindi Test

The International Cricket Council (ICC) slapped both Pakistan and Bangladesh with fine for the slow-over rates during the Rawalpindi Test.

Hosts Pakistan were fined 30 percent of their match fee and penalized six ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points while Bangladesh were fined 15 percent of their match fee and penalized three WTC points for maintaining slow over-rates in the match, an ICC press release stated.

Bangladesh secured a historical 10-wicket victory over Pakistan to lead the two-match series 1-0.

Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates ICC Panel of Elite Match Referees imposed the sanction after Pakistan were ruled to be six overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration, while Bangladesh were three overs short.

Captains Shan Masood of Pakistan and Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh pleaded guilty to the offences and accepted the proposed sanctions, so there was no need for formal hearings. (BSS)
