DMP issues traffic guidelines for Eid-ul-Azha

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today issued 24 guidelines for smooth journey of the homebound people on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

According to the DMP guidelines, it has requested all to comply the guidelines and follow the instructions.

The guidelines are-the traffic management of the respective roads and highways should not be halted during the unloading of cattle heads from trucks at markets and during the sale.

To keep a proper vigilance on sacrificial animals coming to capital through river ways so that they can go to the designated markets.

Ensure parking facilities for easy traveling to markets. No sacrificial animal markets here and there and ensure proper traffic management.

Vehicles loaded with animals must be loaded and unloaded in the markets approved by the City Corporation.

Necessary coordination will be made with city corporations, market lessees, transport owners, labour leaders for smooth traffic control centering cattle markets.

Operate mobile courts for proper traffic management around terminals and animal markets. Boarding of passengers will be done inside the terminals.

In order to regulate the movement of passenger transport and animal to carry vehicles, run transport through coordination at the entry/exit points of Dhaka city.

Long-distance vehicles leaving Dhaka should refrain from carrying extra passengers and goods.

Passengers of inter-district transports are requested to stay inside the terminal instead of waiting or standing on the main roads. Concerned passengers must carry their tickets.

No vehicle shall carry additional passengers on the roof.

Bus drivers would not engage in any unequal competition in picking up passengers which may lead to disruption of road order and loss of lives. Fare charts should be displayed in front of counters of the terminals.

No heavy vehicles will be entered into Dhaka city three days before the Eid.
Efforts should be made to keep important railway stations and airports-centered routes of Dhaka metropolis serviceable.

Conducting awareness building activities and people should not take any food or drink from any strangers while travelling The passengers should preserve their personal belongings and money carefully during the journey.

Motor cyclists and riders must wear helmets while traveling long distances. Effective measures will be taken to prevent over speeding on free roads before and after the Eid.
Operations against the vehicles without route permits will continue.

Necessary measures will be taken to ensure smooth holding of main Eid Jamaats.

The DMP requested all concerned to call Traffic Control Room on 01711-000990 or National Emergency Service: 999 if necessary.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police also greeted all on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. The DMP has sought sincere cooperation from all to ensure safety and security of the citizens. (BSS)
