Salman, Anisul placed on 10-day remand

A court here today placed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s private industry affairs adviser Salman F Rahman and former law minister Anisul Huq on 10-day remand in a case filed with New Market Police Station over killing of a hawker during the quota reform movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid passed the order as Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) produced them before the court and pleaded to place each of them on a 10-day remand.

During the hearing, the pro-BNP leaders brought out procession inside the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Court (CMM) Court demanding trail of the duo.

Salman and Anisul were taken to the court amid tight security while army and Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members were deployed in the court.

During the demonstration of the Antidiscrimination Student Movement, two people- Dhaka College student Sabuj Ali (26) and hawker Md Shahjahan (24)- were killed in front of the Dhaka College in the city on July 16.

Salman and Anisul were arrested on charges of instigating the killing of hawker Md Shahjahan.

Earlier, Coast Guard members detained them from Narayanganj while they were trying to flee through the river route on Wednesday. (BSS)
